Joseph L Williams, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon with the Orthopedic Center of Illinois (OCI), was named to the Springfield Business Journal’s (SBJ) "Forty Under 40." This is the 13th year the SBJ has featured forty leaders who are under the age of 40 in Springfield and the surrounding communities.

"Each of the individuals received one or more nominations from our readers," said Brant Mackey, Publisher of the Springfield Business Journal. "This year we received over 130 nominations."

The 40 recipients were selected based on their contributions to our local business community and the community in which they have chosen to reside. They represent, in part, the future of business in our community and central Illinois. "They have the ability and dedication to change and to preserve the face of our community landscape," Mackey said.

The selectees’ career paths, educational background and community affiliations are varied. They represent the best and brightest from a wide range of occupations. "You can expect to hear more from and about these leaders in the years ahead," Mackey added.

The program was established and is able to continue due to the committment of local businesses that realize the importance of acknowledging these 40 individuals and supporting community business programs. The 40 recipients will be honored at a reception later this month. Check out the July issue of the Springfield Business Journal for a complete list of the 2010 selectees.

Congratulations, Dr. Williams!
